Just want to have a bit of a rave about the fact that H&M Home is back in Dubai – an now even closer to home for me at Mall of The Emirates. I absolutely adore this shop and it’s one of the stores that I really enjoy visiting in person rather than online. It’s particularly good for kids rooms because who really wants to spend a fortune on accessories for the smalls’ rooms? And besides, kids will be kids, just as decorators will be decorators. Your little one might want a pink princess room on Monday and by Sunday she’s more into superheroes and black capes. One can’t decorate according to a five year old’s mood, but you sure can afford a few items to completely change the mood in a room.
A few weeks ago I was on a hunt for new bed linen for Ethan and I found the perfect duvet set at H&M Home. I am a bit of a self-confessed linen snob so I have to admit that I hesitated for a moment, but I have been so impressed with the quality. While I was there, a picked up a few new accessories for Kaitlyn’s room too. Needless to say, the new flamingo head on her wall is pretty in pink and a big hit! And they also have a unicorn!
There are so many adorable things in the kids section, including really cute crockery pieces – I’m talking porcelain plates with embossed kittens (so adorbs) and white porcelain plates with Batman motifs. Batman actually features quite predominantly in the current collection and I was tempted by this duvet cover, but then realised that my almost nine year old might be on the cusp of outgrowing that so I opted for cool stripes instead. I usually keep bed linens to plain and basic, but the stripes look awesome in his room (unfortunately I can’t find the listing online anymore). In order to afford regular changes, I would recommend having your basics in a neutral colour. I’m loving the Light Pink Duvet Cover set and Cotton Chambray in grey.
With most of the H&M kids’ accessories priced at less than AED100, it’s easy to go from pink princess to caped hero in a day. I’ve rounded up a selection of favourites below.
For the record, my H&M Home obsession is not limited to the kids section – there are some fabulous finds for the grown-ups too so keep an eye out for my next round-up.
