It’s been a while since we had a home tour on the blog and this one comes all the way from the Western Cape in South Africa. A beautiful minimalistic home in the heart of Somerset West. The home owner is the lovely Petro from Monoshop, who’s no stranger to us. We’ve talked about her shop before and I’ve done a guest post for her blog too. Needless to say Monoshop is one of my favourite online home boutiques from ‘back home’. Amongst many other… Read more »
When Leanne Moss of the gorgeous online home store, White Moss, recently asked me if I could help her with styling her home, I jumped at the chance. It’s no surprise that I am a big White Moss fan – their natural materials and neutral colour pallet are right up my style alley – and Leanne is just lovely too. Leanne has recently made some changes at their home and I was eager to jump in and help with styling a… Read more »
Over the past two weeks, I have shared mood boards on how to shop the IKEA Part Sale for your living room and bedroom. After sharing these tips with you all, I figured it was about time I put the sale to good use for myself. My home office has been in need of a change for some time and IKEA’s Part Sale presented a great opportunity to tick this one off the list. Whilst I loved the previous layout of my… Read more »
It’s been a while since I’ve had a home tour on the blog so when I saw a friend’s gorgeous Downtown Dubai apartment, I had to show you guys too. Welcome to the beautiful home of Karen Wandrag, fellow South African and founder of DESIGN K. I recently had the pleasure of working with Karen on a design project, but more on that in due course. For now, let’s focus on this beautiful space. A qualified engineer and talented artist, Karen has lived in London,… Read more »
Yesterday I got a peek at an almost finished boys room that is a result of an e-design I completed a few months ago. It’s always so exciting to see a design come to life and I thought you guys would enjoy having a look at a mood board along with it’s end result. Excuse the not so great pic taken on my phone. This room was designed for a little tot who will soon transition from a cot to a big boy bed, so the brief was to incorporate… Read more »
Just thought I’d share a look at this home I’ve been obsessing over lately. If you recognise the kitchen in this exquisite country house, it’s because it was a main source of inspiration in a recent post about ideas for my new kitchen project. It all started, as it often does, with a visit to Pinterest. One minute I’m drooling over images of this kitchen and the next thing I know, I am on a Swedish real estate website gasping in awe as I get the full tour… Read more »
Hello my lovelies. This post is coming to you from South Africa, where I’m currently enjoying some cooler weather. The kids and I have escaped the Dubai heat for the (very long) summer school holidays. The last few weeks of the term felt like a constant rush so I am looking forward to some ‘quiet time’ in the African bush. Today I thought I’d share some images from a project I have been working on at an Arabian Ranches home. The project… Read more »
I recently made some long overdue changes to my dining room. If you’re new around here, it would help to know that my mission over the past year has been to lighten and brighten my home, which has meant getting rid of and/or changing a lot of dark wood for my preferred white, grey or lighter wood finishes. The new colour palette is finally starting to come together but the process has been a lengthly and tedious one. Here’s a peek at what… Read more »
It has to be said that the old inter web can be a bit of a time vacuum. And I think it’s been around appropriately long enough to be called ‘old’ now. I mean there are twenty-somethings out there who would NEVER have known everyday life without it. How bizarre is that?! I’m showing my age now. But seriously, hands up anyone who sits down to quickly look for something online, gets distracted by another thing, and boom, two hours slip by just… Read more »
School has wrapped for the year and this household is officially on holiday. Picture me doing the happy dance! The Dubai summer, with its scorching temperatures and long days of kids being cooped up indoors, is not for the faint hearted. Last year, we braved the entire school break here and I pretty much swore I wouldn’t do that again if I could help it, so the kids and I are off to the homeland in a few days. We are so looking forward to… Read more »
Hey everyone, I hope the week is being good to you. If not, and if you’re an avid interiors stalker, like myself, then I have a little something that is bound to improve your day, if not your whole week!
I am beyond excited to give you a little tour of an exquisite Dubai home. What makes this home an extra special feature for me is that it belongs to a dear friend of mine who also happens to be one of nicest and most inspirational people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. And did I mention that she’s my ex-boss!
London-based, Dee Purdy and her family have recently moved out of the home she always referred to as their ‘shoebox’. After gutting and refurbishing it from front to back, I think she and her hubby did an amazing job of making it appear palatial. Take a look at Dee’s impeccable taste, artistic flair and brilliant photography.
I am so excited to share today’s post with you. When I first saw Shae McGee’s beautiful home, I immediately wanted to showcase it here. Something this lovely simply cannot be kept to oneself. I came across Shea’s Instagram account a few weeks ago and have been intrigued by the beautiful images she posts. She’s an interior designer, mom of a beautiful baby girl and blogger based in California, and her work is amazing. I got in touch with her… Read more »
I thought I would share with you some images of my brother and his wife’s charming and rustic pool/entertainment area where I recently spent some time. I call it rustic, because it really is, in every sense of the word – they live in the middle of the bush on a private game reserve. I absolutely love this space with its practical design and exquisite view of the open plains. And the odd wild animal dotted around the garden certainly… Read more »
